Start of Year 3 Sem 1 (for my friends)

So it has been a week of school for my peers and outings have drastically reduced in number. I thought that the typical indoorsy/home-loving person like me wouldn't mind, but I'm really starting to miss my friends and can't help but wonder what they are up to all day.

I was thankful that the busy case budz managed to meet today. I think I was pretty desperate as it was actually my first time jio-ing the group (it is usually enthu Jocelyn who does the jio-ing). I first told them I "was free to hang out" but was disappointed when no one responded for 8 hours!!! Until Jocelyn told me that I "can't be subtle and must go in with a plan".

Ahh I see...... I feel Jocelyn's frustration in being a jio-er. XD Indeed that worked and we went for our favorite kbox! So happy, I missed them so much!!!!!!!!!

LOL. No amount of filtering would save this grainy photo.

When I told my friends that I was bored at home, KC gave me the evil eye as I didn't go down to the enactus booth to help publicize to freshies. XD Sorweeeee.

Once again we had a smashing time at kbox. Singing without inhibitions can only be done with case budz (until I zaoxia so many times sigh!)

Soon after, Jocelyn left to meet her textbooks seller and the quarter was down to three. Undeterred and with time to spend, we decided to make our way to the arcade.

I dunno if Lot1's arcade was under-furnished or what but they only had a few variety of games- shooting games, car games and the digital-fish-swimming-on-table game (i never figured out what that game was about @.@).

Anyways I was kinda disappointed at first that there were no drumming/pushing-3-button/basketball games as those used to be my favorites.

Surprisingly when we did try the shooting game it was really fun! The first 2D one was super worth it as we could play like 30mins with 3 tokens. With 2 people it's easy to kill the boss but when HC solo-ed, the life reduced much faster hahahha.

The 3D one was awesome because the seat literally would drop when the monster came out and the machine would take our pulse XD my heart rate ended up spiking every time the monster struck XD This high tech arcade machine was pretty eye opening Hahaha. Thanks KC for the Arcade treat!! <3

Ahh this outing was short but I feel really revitalized! Jiayou friends for school and keep me updated!! <3

The day we learnt about self-management

After the exciting NDP parade, Jocelyn collected all the SG50 discount coupons from the goodie bag and asked me out for an adventure! And the discount coupons happen to be for free FACIAL and SLIMMING session HAHAHAHAHA.

-cricket chirp-

At the risk of being judged we still decided to try the experience together! Doing anything with BFF is double the fun. :) In fact, Joce was quite zai about how to escape the hardselling from the sales people at the end of the session. Which is mainly to act like an obedient child who needs to get parental support for every purchase LOL

We tried the slimming session first which was supposed to take 2 hours from 1.30-3.30pm. There was this hilarious moment at the start. We were supposed to take our height and weight to measure our BMI on the charts. My most updated height is 175cm!!! And the tallest height in the list beside me was 172 LOL so my ideal weight was indeterminable XD Then it was Jocelyn's turn to take her height. The height measurer was lowered down and at one point it just stopped and couldn't touch her head LOL. We found it hilarious that we were off the charts in both directions. At last the consultant whacked the height measurer and Jocelyn's height was finally taken. On to the treatment!

The consultant first talked about our eating habits. She kinda said that our eating habits were quite unhealthy as we said that we eat stuff like Tom Yam and fast food when we meet up. Everyone knows that those are unhealthy but it would take so much determination and $$$ to be able to eat clean :( and who could resist the awesome Tom Yam Fried Fish Soup from Jurong East Market... Try it and there's no turning back!! LOL

First stop: Sauna to open our pores
This was one steamy hot sauna! At first we thought we were okay with the heat. But after 5 minutes (which seemed like eternity), we started sweating so much! I don't even sweat that much during 2.4km run. Sweat was just dripping non-stop in that sauna room. The towel that they gave us to cover our faces soon turned so hot that it couldn't be used too. We ended up getting out of the room sooner than they told us to, and feeling slightly light-headed :O

Second stop: Burning Blanket
We were wrapped in this blazing blanket that was supposed to break down fats. Similarly, it started out feeling okay, but suddenly the experience became horrible. It was like we were constrained in a straight jacket that was suffocatingly hot. I had to keep talking to Joce to distract myself from that torture. It was awesome to have Joce doing this together because I would totally try to break out from the blanket if I was alone. Too clautrophobic TT (Although Joce was so unconfortable and screaming in pain to have a proper conversation with me LOL) We decided that real exercising would be better than lying in the Burning Blanket.

Third stop: Fats electrocuting
This stop sounds the most scary but turned out the most relaxing. Electric pods were placed on various problem areas and a current put through. It felt a little like mild vibrations. I think it was easy because they didn't turn the current too high on us. 30 minutes of lying down in a quiet room was pretty good!

Forth stop: Debrief
The consultants tried to persuade us to sign a package over a drink of strawberry + oatmeal. That sour taste and clumpy texture actually felt like vomit to me, but Joce says the drink was super nice LOL. Nevertheless it was for increasing metabolism, so I forced it down XD. We managed to walk out of the shop without succumbing to the consultants (using Jocelyn's technique as mentioned above)

This session was supposed to end at 3.30 but when we looked at the clock when we exited, it was 5pm!!! And Jocelyn had to meet her very busy mentor at 5pm in town!!! She quickly apologised for that mistake but surprisingly, the mentor was totally understanding and ends up deciding to treat Jocelyn ice cream to show her forgiveness. I don't even.... She is so nice! -remembers the many moments where I got angry with Jocelyn for being super late on me hahahahaa- The mentor is just so unimaginably nice!!

OK it's bedtime cause KC is finally back and we are going Msia tmr to rock it out like case budz do!!! Jocelyn please blog about the facial part hahahah

SG50 activities with friends!

In the spirit of SG50, Jocelyn searched for many discounted things that we could do this weekend to "feel the hype" and "be a patriotic Singaporean". XD

Yesterday, we decided to meet S for lunch and then go to Science Center to fulfill our geeky tendencies.

We realised that we haven't sat down with S for a meal in years but yet we could still click like it was 6 years ago! Glad we took the effort to catch up with our old friends this vacation :)

Lunch was a super yummy meal of Yagane, which was korean grilled meat and veggies! Too bad I didn't take pictures TTTTT Can't wait to taste the real deal at korea wahahha!!The chili and smoke was stinging our eyes so badly that we had to run out of the restaurant in the end LOL.

Off to Science Center! It was free because of the SG50 celebrations but we didn't expect the huge throngs of people there. We got laughed at by our friends because we reached there at 3pm when all kiasu Singaporeans probably reached early in the morning XD. Unfortunately, when we finally made it in, all the fun exhibitions that we enjoyed in the past could not be found! They were replaced by many boring exhibitions!! It was also so claustrophobic because there was just so many people. My energy was quickly depleted and I went into lethargic mode LOL.

Luckily we found a garden and started to sing and take selfies there! Which was a quick energy replenisher!

The garden was pretty awesome too! Shall let the pictures do the talking:
Nomming fresh cabbage.

Nice flowers!!

Yup, a pretty anti-climatical end to the science center trip cause it was too crowded to enjoy yesterday XD

-------------------------------------------
Today was an interesting day. I started off rushing down to scape to help with Enactus video, where I was supposed to act as a student listening attentively to a talk. After we listened to the beneficiary giving us a brief of what she wanted to say and were ready to film, Joshua said that he filmed our reactions and it was already a good take. LOL. Ended up not acting at all.

After that we spent some time getting the beneficiary, who was a Visually impaired person, to share some of her difficulties in being someone who was visually impaired. My heart really went out to her as she described the fear she had in going to bed every night as her sight began to deteriorate. She was afraid that her vision would take a turn for the worse the next morning when she wakes up. When she lost her sight, she initially struggled to get off her bed, which she described to be as high as her hip and may be dangerous should she slips off accidentally... BUT! So thankful that she finds satisfaction from being a teacher/trainer with one of our projects in Enactus!

After this we jio-ed HC to the arts science musuem (another free venue for SG50). But there were sooo many people. I think at least 500 people in the queue. We were told that the queue time was 3 hours... and we made the mistake of reporting at 4pm LOL (didn't learn from mistakes). Anyways that would mean 3 hours queue time for 30 min of exhibition viewing so we decided against it.

There was this counter thing from where we were to Esplanade, from 1 to 50. Jocelyn says we should walk the whole pathway to "enjoy the SG50 hype". Me and HC thought otherwise. We were in total yeye and popo mode hahaha. Somehow, Jocelyn the "granddaughter" managed to drag us into the searing hot sun to walk the 1 to 50 trail (we cheated, we started from 28). Jocelyn occasionally breaks into our favourite harmony song "Can't I love you" to try replenish my energy XD Aww thanks for the effort!

We concluded that Jocelyn's Happiness 101 mod has changed her. While we saw this experience as "walking in the searing hot sun when we could be enjoying the air con in MBS", Joce saw it as "walking down the memory lane of Singapore and making history". All of us walked the same path and had 2 different experiences! I decided that I should be more positive and not always see the bad side of things. It definitely helps to keep our energy level up. At one point I was so lethargic that I couldn't even take my phone out for selfies (even though I'm the designated photographer, having the best iPhone camera).

After that our legs were so tired that we decided to have an early dinner. We wanted to eat pizza but saw that 1 pizza that costs $18 to eat-in, while we can take-away 2 pizzas for $21. We considered calling for take-away and asking them to send it to this particular shop that we were at. LOL, decided against it as it was too troll. Even though we were all seated and ready to order, HC the yeye decides that we should not be scammed and asked us to just walk out. Which we did... Jocelyn says that it was the most thrilling moment of her life and that it should be blogged down XD

VISA Story + Pre-exchange reflections

Ahhhh!!! I started this post halfway on my blogger app on my phone and went to bathe. When I came back, the app crashed and everything is gone TTTTTT Oh wells, retyping this on MS Word just to be safe TTTTTT

Stress! My fans are craving for a blog entry but I have nothing to write! Actually it’s just Jocelyn LOL. She’s so eager for me to churn something that she even came up with the topics for me XD Well let’s get started!

---post note: this entry turned out to be quite long and naggy after all HAHA---

The VISA Story
I needed to apply for a VISA to go for exchange at Taiwan. Made plans with N, my exchange buddy, to go the Taiwan Embassy last Friday. We smartly decided to go at 9am sharp so as to beat the queue. I was quite gleeful because I was the first in queue! Cheap thrill LOL

Alas! We were shocked to find out that the VISA needs at least one day to process and they needed to keep our passports with them!! (Actually I’m not supposed to be shocked cause I applied for Taiwan’s visa before for AIESEC =.=). I was going Batam the next Monday and N was going for holiday on Sunday. SO WE NEEDED TO HAVE OUR PASSPORTS WITH US. Yup… We totally made a wasted trip. TTTTT

Good outcome despite a wasted trip
I initially planned for the VISA application to take some time before I meet my mentor at 12noon so I suddenly had 3 hours to kill @.@ N was super nice! She said she will kill the time with me! However, our joy was short-lived as we realized that all the shops were closed as it was too early XD We ended up travelling to plaza Sing to do window shopping. Had so much time that I smelt through all the 20+ perfumes on sale at Robinsons to find the best scent. (On hindsight that might have been the cause of my blocked nose =.=). After that, N and I had a nice time chilling at llaollao. Jocelyn (grauduate of Happiness 101) said to think of this time-wasted circumstance as an opportunity to bond with N and I think it worked out great! #positive thinking

After that I met my mentor who taught me about self-esteem XD HC and Joce wanted to stalk the meeting but failed as they were late as usual hahaha. And that afternoon Jocelyn and I went to change money for our Batam trip and I went to her house to help her dye her hair LOL. The effect wasn’t very obvious but apparently the subtlety was what she was going for, and I effectively got crowned as a good hairstylist. (I don’t even know why I’m blogging all these trivial stuff LOL). On to next story!

Pre-exchange reflections
This exchange is another Romeo and Juliet incident between me and Joce! We were supposed to go exchange and party together but exchange plans took too long so settle and she joined the exco already! Ah well, I’ll make the effort to contact case budz with technology TTTTTTT

N managed to find an apartment among her huge contact base (advantages of going to Business Camp)… And we are going to be staying with 6 other girls (!!!). The introvert in me is facing some stranger anxiety at the moment. I generally take really really long to warm up to new people. Most people’s first impression of me is “quiet girl” hahahaha. One of the reasons I’m comfortable with my case budz is because I can just talk whenever I want to and not try really hard to fish for something in my brain to say. They know I’m quiet and accept me for that #casebudzlove

Other than the social interactions that I need to worry about, there’s also the housework part @.@ My mum really takes care of the household really well and I rarely need to do any housework. Some of my friends call me a qian1jin1xiao2jie3 which means princess =.= So a part of me really wants to work hard to prove myself to them. Also I cannot offend my fellow apartment mates by skiving on the housework also ma. Like I watched ANTM and the girls will suddenly start ganging up and yelling at the one who slacks off and leave the dish stacked up. The horror @.@

Despite having visited Taiwan for quite long last time, I’m pretty excited for this trip! Will miss my family and friends so much @.@ I hope that this experience will be a time for me to grow and improve myself, time to level up!
